Vaping · 3 min

A pod a day is £1,300 a year.

It feels cheap because you pay a few pounds at a time. Nobody ever shows you the total.

£25

a week for a typical pod-a-day habit, and it just went up.

The 10-second version

  • £108a month is what a pod a day costs at around £3.50 each.
  • 53pextra on a 2ml pod from the new vaping duty, which began in October 2026.
  • £16,800is what that £108 a month could grow to in 10 years, invested.

It just got more expensive.

Two rule changes have pushed the price of vaping up, and neither is going away.

What changed
  • Disposables banned

Single-use vapes went in June 2025. The cheap £5 one is gone.

  • A new tax

£2.20 on every 10ml of vape liquid, plus VAT on top.

Under-the-counter vapes dodge the tax and the safety rules. You have no idea what's in them.

Ten years of pods, or a deposit.

Same £108 a month for ten years. The only difference is where it goes.
